Barriers to healing
Since much is still unknown about PCOS, there may not be a single evidence-based treatment plan, placing the responsibility on you to develop an individualized regimen. An important, but often neglected part of that process is engagement with patient perspectives because they may introduce social determinants of health, which are environmental, physical and societal factors that impact health.
Some of the most common barriers to PCOS management include a lack of provider support, low socioeconomic status and mental health co-morbidities. Enhanced knowledge and a critical evaluation of these barriers may offer more equitable treatment solutions for women with PCOS and form a foundation for strong support networks.
